VFX FRANKENSTEIN BUST EXCLUSIVE FIRST PHOTO

Posted by 1001web

Soon to be unleashed upon the villagers is the VFX Frankenstein Monster bust from FACTORY ENTERTAINMENT. The life-size bust, which comes with special sound and visual effects, is the creation of Texan Douglas Hildebrandt.

The bust includes glowing eyes, a Jacob's Ladder mad lab sound effect, and a clip from the original movie with Dr. Henry Frankenstein exclaiming: "It's Alive! Alive!"

Mr. Hildebrandt contacted MONSTER MAGAZINE WORLD and provided an exclusive, updated photo of the project (shown above) that has modified eyes that are different than the photo shown here in a previous post.

He also had this to add:: "I ... sent you a photo of a life-size Karloff Frankenstein monster I designed standing next to [my] 12,500 volt jacobs ladder. The head on the life-size figure is the same as the Factory Entertainment piece. The jacobs ladder has that classic sizzle and crackle sound to it and with that many volts of electricity running through it, it can kill man or monster at any moment."

Here is a LINK to a video clip showing the product in action.

The VFX Frankenstein is a unique addition to the world of monster memorabilia. Ask for it at your favorite monster retailer or wherever Sideshow Collectibles are sold.

Thanks again to Douglas Hildebrandt for providing this exclusive update and good luck with your creation!

SAVE YOUR ALLOWANCE IN THE FRANKENBANK

Posted by 1001web

I showed you the Creature bank a couple of days ago. Now, due out in October is the first in the series of Universal Monsters coin banks, the Frankenstein Monster.

When they say "series", I hope they mean more than just these two.

Here's the skinny from Diamond:

"Spinning out of DST's successful line of Star Wars bust banks comes the all-new Universal Monsters series! The most famous monster of all, Frankenstein, will kick off this new line of 8-inch vinyl banks, which features highly detailed sculpts and paint. From the front it just looks like a high-quality bust, but turn it around and there's a slot to keep your change in! Nobody will want to raid your savings when they're safe inside this resurrected giant!"

While the Creature likeness is spot on, the Frankenstein bust has but a passing resemblance to Boris Karloff -- which takes me to my deep thought of the day (well, at least I hope I don't have to go any deeper than this) -- if the Creature from the Black Lagoon were real, would he license his likeness for toys, models, and other stuff? And what would the unlicensed likeness look like? We've probably seen some already that were unintentional, don't you agree?

Despite what you might think, I'm sleeping just fine these days. . .

EL MUNDO DE FRANKENSTEIN

Posted by 1001web

The longest feature in Issue #5 of the Spanish/Warren collaboration published in Barcelona as FAMOSOS MONSTERS DEL CINE was a filmbook of Chaney Sr.'s THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME.

Another lengthy article, Mary's Monster, was about the enduring legacy of Mary Shelley's FRANKENSTEIN and its long history with the movies. The article asks, "The fascination with Mary Shelley's creation endures to this day -- where?" The answer: "The entire world!"

THIS WAS THE FEAR THAT WAS . . . AURORA FRANKENSTEIN PLASTIC MODEL KIT

Posted by 1001web

In 1961 Aurora Plastics blew the coffin lid off the monster craze that started with TV's Shock Theater and Warren's FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND by releasing the first in their line of Universal monster kits, the Frankenstein monster. The craze quickly caught on and soon the company was cranking out models 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Now, a half century later, Aurora monster models have not lost their mystique as several companies have re-issued the line over the years, re-introducing the magic to youngsters today of "making your own monsters" just like us Monster Kids did!

A now grown-up Monster Kid who goes by the name of Monster Man Dan is selling a 50-year Anniversary Frankenstein model tribute T-shirt at Cafe Press. Click HERE to take a look.

THIS WAS THE FEAR THAT WAS . . . FRANKENSTEIN 1931

This year, MONSTER MAGAZINE WORLD celebrated the 80th Anniversary of the release of Boris Karloff's immortal classic, FRANKENSTEIN. Directed by James Whale and with make up by the legendary Jack Pierce, Karloff became an instant star. People crammed into dark movie houses to watch and riots broke out in the lines outside, even to the point of crushing the box office at one theater!
