There seems to be a never-ending flood of monster toys these days. While not as abundant as during the Monster Craze of the 1960's, monster toys have permeated many areas of the market, including model kits, figures, props and other goodies designed to separate you from the money in your wallet. Either by design or by dumb luck (I favor the former), many of these items are sold as "collectible", and have only short-run production. This creates an artificial aftermarket demand which leads to a frenzy of buyers for the next item that rolls off the assembly line.

SAVE YOUR ALLOWANCE IN THE FRANKENBANK

I showed you the Creature bank a couple of days ago. Now, due out in October is the first in the series of Universal Monsters coin banks, the Frankenstein Monster.

When they say "series", I hope they mean more than just these two.

While the Creature likeness is spot on, the Frankenstein bust has but a passing resemblance to Boris Karloff -- which takes me to my deep thought of the day (well, at least I hope I don't have to go any deeper than this) -- if the Creature from the Black Lagoon were real, would he license his likeness for toys, models, and other stuff? And what would the unlicensed likeness look like? We've probably seen some already that were unintentional, don't you agree?

BOOBIRA IS BACK!

BOOBIRA is a resin parody of the classic Horror Hostess. She is sculted by Jim Fawkes and was originally released in 1994. This wonder of physics stands approximately 5" tall and consist of 2 solid resin plastic parts -- and I can't imagine which they may be from the photo. The kit sells for a measly $21.99.
