Vee: It's been a long time since we've actually been in the loop when it comes to geek culture. Whenever we attend a convention for gaming or anime, it always ends up that we don't know at all what's going on and have to physically restrain ourselves from shaking our fingers and complaining reedily at the 'kids these days'.
The few attempts we've made to re-immerse ourselves have ended in shameful, shameful failure.
I had to accept that I was past the point of understanding why anybody above the age of eight would enjoy My Little Ponies, or what in the hell Tumblr is.
With a heavy heart, I packed up all my circa 1990's cosplay, and gave it to the local children. Perhaps they can re-purpose it as one of those Skylands I've heard so much about.
Jaime: I feel a small pang of mourning over my lost anime credibility. There was a time when I was on the cutting edge of Japanese animation. Now I find all of the shows to be strange, unsettling and far, far too long. Soon I'll be that old weird guy at conventions, dressed in a costume several decades on the wrong side of relevance and making the parents of the children present nervous.
